Strength Building with Isometrics

By:Octaviano Luis Longoria, Certified Personal Trainer

Many people see isometrics as something for older people or for rehab and really don't see the practicality of it but don't realize that it is applied in every moment of their lives it either be sitting and sucking in the stomach or just pushing holding yourself against the wall pushing the palm of your hands together.

Athletes especially think that they don't need it or it doesn't apply to them because they are doing more movement but they don't realize that if they don't have a strong base where movement begins they are open to more strains, tears, or muscleskeletal injuries.

Isometrics is essential for balance, and plays a big role in posture which is essential to stray away from any muscular problems. It dramatically improves performance because it shows the correct posture so your body generates the most amount of force more efficiently and quicker! I loved the website and found the article very interesting especially as a trainer it can be a daunting task to explain to people why it is that we use these exercises and the importance.http://www.myisometrics.com/2009/02/13/strength-building-with-isometrics.html
This is the link to the website for more good information on isometrics and their benifits and what an isometric contraction is.
